Results from the last couple of weeks…
Phil Holwell finished 9th in the third round of the CDNW RR League on the 20th April.
The same weekend Darren Otter was 2nd at Halifax in the LVRC Pete Fryer RR whilst Rich Teare and Pete Goodfellow finished 5th and 9th respectively in Theos 10k at Graves Park.
Check out the results at theos10k.com
Darren won the LVRC A1 Classic RR at the end of April whilst Jamie Burgan was 3rd in Thurcroft’s Spring RR.
Into May and the time trial results are looking pretty good. Alan West was 3rd in the Sheffield Phoenix 25 on Saturday with a 57.04, Marc Mallender was 4th with 57.05 and Darren Otter was 5th with 57.09, these three obviously taking the team prize. Simon Keeton and Jon Rickards took the tandem prize with a 53.36 but were outclassed by Kev Dawson on his own who did a 53.25.
On Sunday Marc was 2nd in the Matlock CC 10 at Rowsley with a 21.55, Jon Rickards was 3rd with 22.17, Darren was =4th with 22.19 and John Hadfield finished a creditable 9th with 22.51.
Naturally the Rutlers walked away with the team prize again.
May Day Monday and Simon and Jon headed to North Cave to ride the V718 on the tandem and recorded a personal best of 18.33, but only took 2nd place to Charles McCulloch and Richard Bradley who recorded a 17.45.

vtta-25-19.doc Rutland team consisting of Alan West, George Lascelles & Eric Nicholson won the team event on standard with a total plus of 43 mins 20 secs congratulations to these three. With a last minute change to a course which many riders and officials didn’t know existed, and the day dawning with a strong bitterly cold N/Easterly wind, things didnt look good. That said it didn’t turn out too badly in the end, and two riders enjoyed it so much they decided to make it a 30 mile event and did reasonably good times, following another rider in a dual circuit event is not to be recommended especially when the other rider was on his first cicuit.
No commentsDanny wins in Jersey
Over the Easter weekend I competed in the Caesarean Cycling Club Jersey five day stage race that was later shortened to a four day race due to bad weather…I managed to get third overall and won the last road race stage with a lone break away with one six mile lap to go!
The race is a great event and I will probably making the trip next year. If anyone from the club fancies a bit of early season training then I can thoroughly recommend this event. Flights are pretty cheap from Doncaster and accommodation in Jersey could be easily sorted out. What you get is a well run event every morning and then time in the afternoon for more riding (should you need more training!!!) or just a bit of R&R.
Jersey is a great place to cycle with a maximum speed limit of 40mph throughout the island and truly courteous drivers everywhere.
For more info on the event visit ccc.je
Anyway, if anyone fancies the trip next year email me at doonbar@gmail.com.

If anyone wants more details email Danny Lowthorpe at doonbar@gmail.com.

No commentsCentenary Mugs
The idea was raised at the AGM of having some mugs done to celebrate 100 years of the Rutland CC. Mr.President has made some inquiries and an image was sent to him of what we could have done. A decision will be made at the next meeting if we want to go ahead with having them done, and how many we would like. Click on the image to view full size.

Comments are off for this postWednesday afternoon Time Trials 2008
Neil Howarth, on behalf of the Nth Mids VTTA has organised a series of time trials on the popular 9.3 mile Mattersey circuit. The series is to start Wednesday 4th June until 30th July 2008. Start time is 2.00 pm.
You don’t have to be a vet to ride, you don’t have to enter in advance you just have to be at Torworth(5 miles north of Retford on the A638). Entry fee is £2.00 per event. Further details will be on the Nth Mids VTTA website http://vttanm.blogspot.com as and when we get them
No commentsRUTLAND VETS
The North Midland vets now have a website:- http://vttanm.blogspot.com which we hope will improve communications. It has links to VTTA, CTT, and a few clubs. At the moment there is not much happening in the time trialing world except for the annual drudge of getting the miles in, usually in not too pleasant conditions. Hopefully all our events will be back on the good courses but the progress in course measuring seems to be kept secret, or else nothing is happening at the moment, the weather is certainly not helping.
Wishing you all Best wishes for the New Year
Barbara & Gordon
