An old member of Rutland CC the original ‘youth’ is returning to Sheffield for a visit from his home in Canada and is inviting anyone who knows him from the club to a reunion on 17th March 2007 at Carbrook Hall pub in Attercliffe

These pictures are of Malcolm and Tracey Pearce who emigrated to New Zealand in January 1994 with their two sons Oliver and Thomas. They were taken by Pete Dungworth (Sheffield Sports CC) when he spent a month out there in October 2006 with his wife Alysoun.

Malc, along with Les and Brian Pickering and Martin ‘Coucho’ Teanby had set off from Shefffield on their bikes in October 1980 to travel the World and did just that for the following four years. On their return to the UK they have all emigrated, Malc and Tracey to NZ, Coucho to NZ and Les and Brian to France.

Malc’s decision to leave the UK was made after he was made redundant from his job at the Whitbread Brewery at Ladysbridge and so he packed his bags and left for a better life on the other side of the world. Tracey’s Mum and Dad, Olivia and George Clarke also emigrated a year later as did her sister Debbie.

Malc celebrated his 50th birthday just after Christmas and is still racing out in NZ wuppin’ it up as only Malc could. Both Oliver and Tom have followed in Dads wheel tracks and also race, Oliver having represented NZ at the Junior Worlds in Belgium in 2006.

Rutland CC Middle Markers 25, 8th July 2006 Course 25/10

On behalf of the Rutland CC I would like to thank all the marshals and officials who helped to make it all come together. Thanks also to the long suffering ladies in the refreshment kitchen, that cup of tea is always welcome. Best wishes also to all the riders and hope to see you again next year. Forthcoming rutland cc events are as follows :- july 29th 10 mile solos & tandems. September 16th grande prix des gentlemen a 2-up event, one rider a vet, it also includes an open 2-up. So come and hone up your breakaway skills.

Congratulations to George Steers, Rutland CC on reducing the age record for an 83 year old by 2 mins 58 secs with a time of 1hr 5mins 57secs (subject to confirmation).

VTTA North Midlands 30, 6th May 2006

Course 0/30. Today’s event went without any problems the weather was good despite the weather forecast and the non-starters missed a very fast day. Gordon Scott

New records set
1, George Steers beat a National Age Record last Saturday in the VTTA 30 (not confirmed officially) with a time of 1h 25m 43s at 83 years of age beating the existing record of 1h 29m 59 by 4m 16s
2, Alan West beat a Group Age Record in the same event with a 1h 6m 18s at 58 years of age beating the existing record of 57 years old John Blacker (1h 6m 19s) by 1 second. Quite an event for the Rutland CC but well deserved by these two riders, Gordon Scott

Early Season 10, 26th March 2006

Gordon Scott reports: the early season ‘10′ held on the Cuckney course last Sunday. There was certainly no need for any spreadsheets to work out these results as it was the worst attended event since I started running it (am I doing something wrong?), There were only three riders to battle against a stiff wind, but it did stay dry and reasonably warm. 1st/ Marc Mallender 23mins 50secs 2nd/ Tony Fouldes 31mins 16secs 3rd/ Peter Coldwell 31mins 36secs. Many thanks to these lads for turning up, as for the others “you could do better”.
